The 5th Project Management International Forum was held in Shenzhen on April 17.

The event was organized by SAFEA and the Project Management Institute (PMI). More than 900 people from government, business, and academic institutions took part.

The forum focused on PMP and PgMP knowledge systems. Experts discussed the development of project management in China, future development trends, and the role of project management in strategic targeting.

Lu Ming said that introducing advanced knowledge and professional career recognition systems is crucial for training talented individuals for corporations. Development of project management capacity is important for China to penetrate global markets.

Craig Killough, vice president of PMI global business, said that important issues of human society in the future will generate more investment and projects. In order to lower costs and achieve better revenue, a culture emphasizing project management should be fostered in relevant institutions.

Antonio Nieto-Rodriguez, chairman of the board of PMI in 2016, highlighted the importance of staff education for the development of an institution, and listed examples of Toyota, P&G, and NASA in this area.

The forum this year had the largest number of foreign experts since 2011, and offered many new ideas for the development of project management in China.
