Zhang Jianguo, administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), met with Chris Clark, member of the Visa global executive committee and president of the Asia-Pacific region, in Beijing on August 16.

They exchanged views on strengthening Sino-US scientific and technological cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Zhang welcomed Clark and his delegation and congratulated Visa on renewing its training agreement with China. He said that the SAFEA has cooperated with Visa for 10 years, and the results of the training program in the United States have been remarkable.

In 2017, the training program was incorporated into the framework for high-level consultation mechanism for people-to-people exchanges between China and the US and promoted mutually beneficial cooperation in fiscal and financial fields.

Zhang said that China’s new Ministry of Science and Technology attaches great importance to innovation and talent cultivation, and hopes to further strengthen exchange and cooperation with Visa in the fields of technology and finance. He also looked forward to the development of Sino-US relations.

Clark said that Visa has been conducting business with China for 31 years, and has established good cooperative relations with the country’s government departments and enterprises. He is confident that China and the US will further deepen talent exchange and training in the field of scientific and technological innovation in the future.
