SAFEA administrator visits Japan

At the invitation of the Japanese Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs Teruo Kishi, Zhang Jianguo, vice-minister of science and technology and administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA), visited Japan from April 6 to 10.

Zhang met with Kishi and exchanged views on promoting Sino-Japanese scientific and technological innovation cooperation. Zhang attended the signing ceremony of the Sino-Japanese Science and Technology Humanities Exchange and Cooperation Agreement, and signed an agreement with the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) on strengthening scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation.

China and Japan agreed to implement the consensus on high-level mutual visits reached between leaders of the two countries, promote the implementation of the 16th meeting of the China-Japan Committee on Intergovernmental Science and Technology Cooperation, innovate forms of cooperation, expand the scale of cooperation, improve its level, and further strengthen its science and technology talents.

Zhang also visited Fujitsu Laboratories, the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and Hiroshima University, and learned about the development of Toyota hydrogen energy vehicles. He met with winners of the Chinese Government Friendship Award and the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award. Zhang also met with Chinese Ambassador to Japan Cheng Yonghua for an exchange of views.
