Foreword
China is a development nation with a large population but limited resources. In the new century, strengthening China’s cooperation with other developing nations in the fields of science and technology and economy has become unprecedentedly urgent and important. Such cooperation will obviously create ways and means for taking full advantage of the respective strength of different countries, alleviating poverty, accelerating economic development and making fortunes for their people. Such cooperation will also become a stimulus to the south-south cooperation and enhance our international competitiveness and risk resistance so as to allow more positive involvement in the economic globalization process, safeguarding our economic interests and security, and enhancing the visibility of developing nations in south-north dialogues.
Since its implementation of “reform and opening” policy, China has witnessed fast growth of its economic and S&T activities, turning out numerous technologies applicable to the needs of developing nations and attracting their attention. I’m confident that the diffusions and applications of these Chinese proven technologies in developing nations will benefit the economic development of recipients and the improvement of their technological levels. The Chinese Government has always paid great attention to S&T exchanges and cooperation among developing nations. Under the principle of equality and mutual benefits, results sharing and intellectual properties protection, the Chinese Government is willing to let you be aware of these technologies through selected seminars so as to promote our common development in the fields of S&T and economy.
In 2004,China is scheduled to launch 31 international seminars dedicated to developing nations, covering a variety of topics such as agriculture, energy, CAD, environment protection, medicine and etc. we have made details of these events available in this brochure and welcome the participate of friends from different countries for their own interests and needs.
