The Black Light Theater of Czech Republic will bring Chinese audience a unique theatrical experience of fantasy on stage with black light “magic.”

A new, high-energy show kicked off its 2014 China tour last Friday at Shanghai’s Xuhui Riverside Greenland, the first of 50 local performances that will run into July.

At first sight, the ink-wash painting created by Wang Tiande gives a sense of something unusual but not fully told — the details missing.

The figure, on hard-paste porcelain painted with enamels and gilt, shows a general sitting on a prancing horse.

Fans of traditional Chinese theater are in for a treat in the coming weeks with new and original performances which promise to provide inspiration, reflection.

Shanghai Media Group’s Documentary Channel said yesterday that it will begin broadcasting across the country from Monday.

Shanghai Municipal Archives is exhibiting 3D photos of the city taken more than about a century ago.

A total of 66 parks across the city will extend their opening hours during the summer months, local authorities said yesterday.

Shanghai Municipal Archives yesterday put on display a collection of more than 1,000 photos of the city donated by a relative of a foreigner who worked in the city in the 1930s.

The piece was created by Israeli artist David Gerstein, whose work “seeks to expand the limits of twodimensional paintings into 3D sculptures.”
