WU Zhongze, Vice Minister of Science and Technology led a delegation to France on 11-15 May 2007. There, they went to the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) and visited the Chinese staff working in ITER.

WU and Madam Brechignac, President of CNRS jointly signed the Memorandum on Cooperation between MOST and CNRS for Establishment of Joint Laboratories and R&D Bases, with the agreement to promote the establishment of China-France joint laboratories and R&D bases in the priority areas, such as basic research, information technology, combination of Chinese and Western medicine and renewable energy, etc.
