The Meeting on Academician WANG Daheng’s Important Thoughts about Scientific Instruments was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on June 29, 2007. The event attracted some 250 participants, including experts in the field of instruments and meters, and academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE). Also present were representatives from the business circle, MOST, CAS, CAE, and the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST).

Vice Minister LIU Yanhua addressed the meeting. He reviewed the remarkable contribution of WANG Daheng and called on the S&T community to look up to WANG’s scientific philosophy and pioneering spirit, and learn from his dedication, down-to-earth attitude and noble virtues. The S&T community was expected to foster innovation in scientific instruments, facilitate the synergy and dissemination of important scientific thoughts, value the sum-up and popularization of existing scientific methodologies and bolster the building of an innovative country.
