The first Joint Commission Meeting on S&T Cooperation between Macao and Mainland China was successfully summoned lately in Beijing. Mr. SHANG Yong, Vice Minster of Science and Technology and Mr. LAU Si Lo, Secretary for Transports and Public Works of the Macao Special Administrative Region addressed the meeting. They also co-chaired the Joint Committee.

SHANG pointed out in his speech that S&T cooperation is a major component of the overall cooperation between Macao and the mainland. During the building of an innovative China, the mainland should build ever closer cooperation with Macao as well as Hong Kong for greater achievements.

MOST and the S&T Council of Macao have signed the Agreement on the Establishment of Joint Commission on S&T Cooperation between the Mainland and Macao so as to promote the common prosperity and development between the two regions and strengthen their cooperation in S&T and related industries. This first meeting of the Joint Committee has established a solid base for substantial S&T cooperation and exchanges in the future.
