From November 14th to 15th, 2007, the National Office for S&T Awards (NOSTA) organized and convened the 3rd session of the National Symposium on Nongovernmental S&T Awards. NOSTA Director CHEN Chuanhong attended the symposium and made a keynote speech. More than 110 representatives from work units establishing these awards nationwide attended the symposium.

After careful analysis of the status quo of nongovernmental S&T awards in China, it was pointed out that such awards should effectively encourage the innovative S&T talents and personnel. The main tasks are to continue to establish codes and system, and carry out the registration and management according to law; enhance the review and highlight the brand development; multiply the influence of nongovernmental S&T awards and build a variety of service platform; and strive for favorable policies in for such awards.
