On November 19th, Vice Minister CAO Jianlin met with Jim Sherriff, senior vice president of Cisco Global Operations and chairman & CEO of Cisco China, in Beijing.
According to Mr. Sherriff, Cisco would increase investment in health care, education, energy conservation and basic research, shifting “Cisco in China” to “Cisco of China”. Cisco would also like to support the Chinese government in responding to the financial crisis.
CAO emphasized that China was still a developing country trying hard to create an innovation-oriented country. He welcomed Cisco making contributions to the information technology by building cooperative ties with local governments, enterprises, universities and research institutes in Middle-West China and remote areas.
