VM CAO Meets the Delegation of OSA

The Vice Minister of MOST CAO Jianlin met the delegation of the Optical Society of America (OSA), headed by OSA President Thomas Baer, in Beijing on August 27, 2009.

The two sides exchanged ideas on deepening the cooperation in optics and photo-electronics. The Vice Minister gave a brief introduction about the efforts made by MOST in energy conservation and emission reduction, while the President Baer said that OSA was ready to conduct academic exchanges for scientists during summer vacation and carry out substantive cooperation with its counterparts in China.  VM CAO, in response, said that MOST would support this kind of initiative based on the good cooperation with American research institutes and welcome the active participation of American universities, research institutes and enterprises in the Sino-US S&T cooperation. Agreements on facilitating bilateral S&T cooperation could also be signed in the future when necessary.
