The executive meeting of the State Council on January 13 affirmed that the integration of three webs (telecommunication web, broadcasting and television web, and the Internet) would be accelerated with more support from the central government. This announcement was long echoed in the China High-Speed Information Demo Web, initiated by MOST during the Ninth-Five Year Plan several years ago. The project succeeded in connecting 13 test nodes of some key research institutes and universities in Beijing by relying on indigenous research and innovation, such as OXC, OADM, core router, and web management system. This was a real breakthrough in the broadband information web technology in China.
In the future, MOST would continue to boost web integration, guide relevant research institutes, enterprises and operators to forge an industry alliance for new growth points, and facilitate the advancement of the information industry and modern services.
