Vice Minister Zhang Jianguo Meets with Salvadoran Deputy Secretary for Technology and Planning

On September 17, 2018, Zhang Jianguo, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Administrator of the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs, met in Beijing with a Salvadoran delegation led by Alberto Enriquez, Deputy Secretary for Technology and Planning of the President’s Office of El Salvador. The two sides conducted in-depth exchanges on the current situation of science, technology and innovation development and cooperation in science and technology between China and Salvador.
Vice-Minister Zhang Jianguo briefed Deputy Secretary Alberto Enriquez and his delegation on the latest progress in China‘s science, technology and innovation (STI) since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. He said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to STI and that China is willing to carry out all-dimensional exchange and cooperation with Salvador in the field of science and technology. He also proposed that both parties should establish an inter-governmental mechanism for science and technology cooperation, foster close people-to-people exchange and cooperation in science and technology and make rational use of the China-Latin America platform for science and technology cooperation.
Deputy Secretary Alberto Enriquez spoke highly of China’s achievements in the field of STI, agreed with the proposals put forward by the Chinese side and said that Salvador is willing to cooperate with China in personnel exchange and joint lab building and other fields. He hoped that the two sides could sign an agreement on cooperation in STI as soon as possible.  
Present at the meeting were Chen Linhao, Deputy Director General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Wu Cheng, Deputy Director General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and Huang Kunyu, Political Counselor of the Department of Latin American and Caribbean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
