2nd Sino-Swedish S&T Week Wrapped Up

The second China-Sweden S&T Week concluded in Beijing on September 19, 2007. Minister WAN Gang inked a joint declaration with Swedish Minister Lars Leijonborg for Education and Research at the closing ceremony and both sides agreed to facilitate the setup of a Sino-Swedish science center in fields of complementary strengths.

In his introduction of China’s innovation strategy and policies, WAN expounded that China’s innovation is open, global and aimed at learning from the rest of the world.

In the field of energy and environment, WAN indicated that China is to initiate a program for international cooperation so as to promote the government-NGO joint efforts across the globe in the R&D of new and renewable energy. A number of joint labs and R&D centers are to be established. The Minister hoped countries would take part in the program through which they would work together for innovation, learn from each other and build a clean and environment-friendly world.
