New Energy Vehicles Put into Operation at Shanghai World Expo

 

The Delivery Ceremony of 2010 Shanghai World Expo New Energy Vehicles, organized by MOST, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT)and Shanghai Municipal Government, was held on April 15th at the South Square of China Pavilion, Shanghai. CPPCC Vice Chairman and MOST Minister WAN Gang, MOST Vice Minister DU Zhanyuan, and leaders from MIIT and Shanghai Municipal Government attended the event.

More than 1,017 new energy vehicles of various kinds have been put into pilot operation, the largest of its kind in the world. Most of these vehicles are jointly developed by domestic auto manufacturers and research institutes, including Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation, FAW Group, ChangAn Group, Cherry, Tsinghua University and Tongji University.

The launching of new energy vehicles aims to achieve zero emission within the expo park, and low emissions around the expo park, so as to deliver a high-tech, low-carbon and green expo. It is also vivid demonstration of the expo’s theme-better city, better life. The ceremony was chaired by Yang Lan, Shanghai World Expo Image Ambassador.
