Training Workshop on Agriculture IT Successfully Concluded

The Department of International Cooperation, MOST and UNCTAD (United Nation Conference Trade and Development), National Engineering Research Center for Information Technology in Agriculture (NERCITA) held in Beijing a 15-day training workshop on agricultural information technology for 19 representatives from 13 African countries, such as Tunisa and Nigeria. The workshop was successfully concluded on July 2, 2007. It covered four aspects, namely, practical and transplant technology, application of RS, GIS and GPS in agriculture, precision agriculture to digital water-saving agriculture, and setup of agricultural expert system. With gradual teaching and personal practice, trainees developed an in-depth command of the above-mentioned technologies.

 

When returned, African trainees wrote to thank UNCTAD, MOST and NERCITA again for such a fruitful training and hoped to strengthen Sino-African collaboration and exchange on agricultural IT for the further progress of African agriculture.
