The Department of Basic Research held an expert panel meeting to study the feasibility of setting up a state key laboratory (SKL) on geo-hazard prevention and geo-environment protection in Chengdu City of Sichuan Province lately.

Experts unanimously agreed on founding the SKL at an early date as it met China’s demand, helped to address related problems in the country’s western region in particular, and would provide the nation with comprehensive theoretical and technical support.
