On October 18th, 2007, the Department of Basic Research, MOST organized a panel of experts to assess the Construction Planning of the State Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Resources and Exploration.

The expert panel unanimously approved the plan and recommended interdisciplinary integration, with focus on research directions where it enjoys some strength.
