Premier Wen Jiabao and Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard held official talks in the Great Hall on April 26. Later, with the presence of the two state leaders, Minister Wan Gang and Geoff Raby, Australian Ambassador to China signed a joint statement on behalf of MOST and Australian Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research respectively. In the statement, both parties spoke highly of the achievements in bilateral sci-tech cooperation. In order to keep and expand collaboration, each side promised to invest AUD 9 million in the next three years to set up the China-Australia Science and Research Fund.
