2014 China-Australia Young Scientist Exchange Program Officially Launched

 

Sponsored by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China and the Australian Department of Industry, and organized by China Science and Technology Exchange Center, the 2014 China-Australia Young Scientist Exchange Program was launched on November 21, 2014 in Beijing. Dr.Wang Yan, Deputy Director General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center, and Mr. Sean Starmer, Science Counselor of Australian Embassy to China addressed the opening ceremony. Officials from MOST and representatives from Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) briefed on China’s science and technology policies, international S&T cooperation and particularly China-Australia S&T cooperation.
Since 2007, China-Australia Young Scientist Exchange Program has been successfully implemented for 7 years. A total of 136 outstanding young scientists have taken part in the program. This year, 15 Australian scientists from Murdoch University, University of Sydney and other institutions will go to Chinese cities like Shanghai, Wuhan, Nanjing and Guangzhou for a two-week visit. At the same time, 16 Chinese scientists arrived at Sydney on November 18, 2014. After the opening ceremony held by Australian Department of Industry on November 19, the scientists have started their  visits to different Australian universities and research institutes, including the University of Queensland and the University of Adelaide.
