From September 15 to 17, 2019, Vice Minister of Science and Technology Wang Xi accompanied Vice Premier of the State Council and Chinese President of the Committee on China-Russia Prime Ministers’ Regular Meeting Hu Chunhua to the 23rd Session of the Committee of China-Russia Prime Ministers’ Regular Meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia. At the plenary session, Vice Minister Wang Xi delivered a report on the Science and Technology Cooperation Subcommittee. 

Vice Minister Wang Xi talked about agreement reached at the 23rd Session of the Subcommittee on Science and Technology Cooperation held in June 2019, and the progress of related work, and made four suggestions on further deepening cooperation in science, technology and innovation: 1. jointly hold the“Year of Scientific and Technological Innovation”; 2. continue to expand exchanges between science and technology talents; 3. continue to deepen R&D cooperation between China and Russia, and support key research institutes and enterprises to carry out joint research and establish high-level joint laboratories in the mutually agreed priority areas; and 4. continue to deepen practical cooperation in the field of mega science.

Grigory Trubnikov, Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education, positively echoed Vice Minister Wang Xi‘s suggestions and pledged to work with the Chinese side to promote the delivery of relevant cooperation suggestions.
