13th Meeting of China-Singapore Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation Held

On December 7, 2021, the 13th Meeting of China-Singapore Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation was successfully held via video link. Zhang Guangjun, Vice Minister of Science and Technology of China, and Low Teck Seng, Chief Executive Officer of the National Research Foundation of Singapore, attended and addressed the meeting. Dai Gang, Director-General of the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, moderated the meeting.
 
Zhang Guangjun pointed out that the telephone conversation between President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong in October this year charts a new course for the development of bilateral relations, and this meeting is an important initiative to follow up on the consensus of the two leaders. Since the establishment of the Joint Committee on Science and Technology in 1993, the two sides have carried out cooperation in various forms in multiple fields. He expressed his hope that the two sides will take the Joint Committee meeting as an opportunity to continuously expand the areas and improve the models for cooperation, and to work to achieve more and practical results. Low Teck Seng noted the long-standing cooperation between researchers and research institutions in Singapore and China, and expressed optimism over the prospect of deepening future collaboration between the two sides.
 
During the meeting, Zhang Guangjun and Low Teck Seng also exchanged views and reached consensus on the two countries’ science, technology and innovation policies, joint research projects, flagship cooperation projects and researcher exchanges.
 
Gao Xiang, Director-General of China Science and Technology Exchange Center, Ruan Xiangping, Senior Counsel of the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and Fu Xiaofeng, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Science and Technology for Social Development, attended the meeting. Yu Haiying, Science and Technology Councilor of the Chinese Embassy in Singapore, attended the meeting online.
