On May 18, 2023, Vice Minister Xiangli Bin, met in Beijing with Keith Tanti, Parliamentary Secretary for Youth, Research and Innovation of the Maltese Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation. The two sides held in-depth discussions about expanding bilateral cooperation on scientific and technological innovation.

　　Xiangli Bin said that China and Malta have maintained friendly cooperation since diplomatic ties were established in 1972. Following the first meeting of the China-Malta Joint Committee on Science and Technology Cooperation in 2015, bilateral cooperation in this regard has become more pragmatic, efficient and influential. The Ministry of Science and Technology would like to work with Malta to expand the areas and channels of cooperation, encourage research institutions from China and Malta to set up joint laboratories, establish long-term and stable partnership, and consolidate the achievements of cooperation.

　　Parliamentary Secretary Keith Tanti introduced the work of the Secretariat for Youth, Research and Innovation, hailed the Chinese side’s suggestions on cooperation, and agreed to deepen cooperation on scientific and technological innovation, build more cooperation platforms and elevate bilateral cooperation to a new stage.
